Toy storeys: James May and 1,000 helpers built the 20ft-tall Lego house on a wine estate in Surrey. Lego has also banned May from dismantling the structure and giving away the bricks, which the company donated for his forthcoming BBC show James May’s Toy Stories. May slept in the modern house on Friday night, on ‘the most uncomfortable bed I’ve ever slept in’ – when he also discovered the house was not waterproof. May believes that an art gallery, a children’s home or a wealthy private collector might be interested in the house. Knocking it down is just wrong on every level. It’s a really lovely thing – it would break the hearts of the 1,000 people who worked like dogs to build it.via.

5ive Modern Home Design in Minneapolis, Minnesota from shelter architecture, their home was designed as a constant supporter of their new lifestyle. The Gallo’s approached their new modern home as an opportunity to start a new lifestyle that would significantly decrease their impact on the world. The site is close mass transit and community services. The plan allows them to gracefully age without having to move or remodel. The modern kitchen is laid out to promote a better diet. Storage is designed to decrease waste and over-consumption. And, of course, everything in the building is the most energy efficient possible. They began reshaping their mobility, their diets, their energy use, and even their rate of consumption.

Modern Interior Adams Fleming House from Levitt Goodman Architects have designed the Adams Fleming House in Toronto, Canada. There are way too many things to list but the collection of mid century modern furniture and the concrete tub are just a couple of reasons to look at this project one more time. The fluid collaboration of experts on this project has resulted in a house that exudes originality and extraordinary craftsmanship. An introverted plan strategically shuts out the auditory and visual noise of the city and gives Peter and Debbie the opportunity to enjoy the quiet fugue of their home and their fine collections of modernist furniture and contemporary art.
