Architects Paul McKean and Amy Donohue tackled The Complexities of Keeping It Small and Simple when they built a weekend home design outside Portland, Oregon in the Hood River Valley. The Modern Green Home Retreat: Small and Simple Design itself had been on the market for three years and included a creek requiring a 100-foot buffer zone. The couple faced many obstacles (including a floodplain and deed restrictions on small homes) but still managed to build a modern, green home.
