Modern Glassy Green Home in Belgium by Carl Verdickt
By matalangit On November 23rd, 2009Modern Glassy Green Home located in Belgium Designed by the Belgian architect Carl Verdickt, the house is furnished minimally with whites and woods to complement the feeling of ‘openness’ that prevails throughout the abode. The design prioritized affordability and simplicity, which is noticeable in the stark but stylish interior. This glass home design occurs when heat from the sun’s rays passes through the glass walls and warms up the modern interior whilst the insulation in the glass prevents the heat from escaping. Extra insulation is also added at the back of the glass walls to shield certain areas of the home decorator from the public eye. Also, need to give high marks for minimalist use of material engineering and smart design for natural light and comfort.

The once noble structure takes on a more humble form through Project ‘Greenhouse’. It’s a green house and a house meant to act like a true greenhouse — the steel-framed structure is enveloped in alternating material engineering layers of insulated transparent glass and translucent polycarbonate plates, so when the sun comes through the glass and heats up the interior, the insulation in the glass keeps the heat inside.
